About
Rockett Academy is a youth mentorship and career development program that introduces Long Beach students to careers in emergency services. In partnership with the Long Beach Fire Department, Long Beach Unified School District, and the City Prosecutor’s Office, the program provides hands-on training, mentorship, and real-world exposure that builds confidence, teamwork, and leadership skills.
What They Offer
- Monthly hands-on training sessions at the LBFD Regional Training Center
- Mentorship from Long Beach firefighters and first responders
- Fireground skills, teamwork, and leadership development
- Career exploration in firefighting, EMS, and search & rescue
- Preparation for Long Beach Search & Rescue and emergency service pathways
Who It’s For
Long Beach students in middle and high school (grades 7–12), particularly youth who would benefit from mentorship, structure, and career guidance.
Program Schedule
Sessions held once per month during the school year (approximately 10 months).
Impact
- Increased student confidence, attendance, and academic performance
- Graduates have gone on to serve as ambulance operators and Search & Rescue team members
- Provides direct pathways into public service careers
