LBCP Summer Interns 2015

Johnathan “Chief” Coleman

Johnathan “Chief” Coleman served as a Summer Intern with the Long Beach City Prosecutor’s Office in 2015. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and Political Science from Bucknell University in 2019 and a Juris Doctor from University of Southern California Gould School of Law in 2022. In 2024, Johnathan was appointed as a Commissioner for the City of Long Beach and began practicing as an Associate with K&L Gates. He later served as Secondee Legal Counsel with Amazon beginning in 2025. In recognition of his contributions to community-centered justice, Johnathan was named a 2025 Impact Award recipient by Long Beach City Prosecutor Doug Haubert for his role in the Neighborhood Restorative Justice Program.


Jason Grimm

Jason Grimm served as a Summer Intern with the Long Beach City Prosecutor’s Office in 2015. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Chemistry from University of California, San Diego in 2018 and a Juris Doctor from University of California, Irvine School of Law in 2023. Since completing his undergraduate studies, Jason has focused his career on public-sector environmental work, beginning as an environmental consultant for San Diego County–based municipalities with an emphasis on stormwater compliance. During law school, he worked in environmental enforcement roles with the Santa Barbara County District Attorney’s Office, the Colorado Attorney General’s Office, and the U.S. Department of Justice. After passing the California Bar in 2023, Jason began practicing as an attorney with the California State Water Resources Control Board, where his work focuses on water law, water rights, and environmental law.

Floyd Johnson II

Floyd Johnson II served as a Summer Intern with the Long Beach City Prosecutor’s Office in 2015. Following his internship, he solidified his goal of pursuing a legal career and earned his undergraduate degree from California State University, Sacramento in 2020. After graduation, Floyd worked as a substitute teacher while preparing for the LSAT and navigating the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. He began law school in Fall 2024 at Washington and Lee University School of Law in Lexington, Virginia.


Marissa Pena

Marissa Peña served as a Summer Intern with the Long Beach City Prosecutor’s Office in 2015. Following her internship, she became a licensed esthetician and went on to found and operate her own skincare business. According to Marissa, her experience with the City Prosecutor’s Office helped her secure a professional role at California State University, Long Beach, where she worked for several years and expanded her career opportunities. Marissa also gained hands-on business experience working closely with Suzie Price at a locally owned beauty business in Belmont Shore. She credits her internship experience with opening doors to new career paths and strengthening her professional foundation.
