LBCP Summer Interns 2023

Laylah Jefferson
Laylah Jefferson served as a Summer Intern with the Long Beach City Prosecutor’s Office in 2023. She completed her undergraduate studies in Political Science at California State University, Long Beach and went on to pursue legal studies at Loyola Law School, Los Angeles.

Javalin Cummings
Javalin Cummings served as a Summer Intern with the Long Beach City Prosecutor’s Office in 2023. She earned her undergraduate degree in Communication Studies from California State University, Long Beach. Following graduation, Javalin took a gap year to travel and prepare for the LSAT before beginning her legal education at Louisiana State University Paul M. Hebert Law Center in Fall 2025, where she was awarded the Dean’s Scholarship.

Téa Satariano
Téa Satariano served as a Summer Intern with the Long Beach City Prosecutor’s Office in 2023. She graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School and committed to studying Political Science and History with a minor in Community Engagement and Social Change at University of California, Los Angeles. Téa also gained legislative experience working as an aide for Kristina Duggan.

Angelica Pum
Angelica Pum served as a Summer Intern with the Long Beach City Prosecutor’s Office in 2023. Following the internship, she applied and interviewed with the Office of the Mayor of Long Beach and later served as a Public Service Corps Fellow with the Office of Mayor Rex Richardson, continuing her work in public service and local government.

Jean Bootan
Jean Bootan served as a Summer Intern with the Long Beach City Prosecutor’s Office in 2023. During her final year of undergraduate study, she interned in Washington, D.C. with the office of Congressman Lou Correa. Jean earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a minor in Sociology from University of California, Irvine. Following graduation, she took a gap year to prepare for the LSAT while working as a Legal Assistant with an estate planning law firm in Irvine, California.
Diego Smith
Diego Smith served as a Summer Intern with the Long Beach City Prosecutor’s Office in 2023. He earned his undergraduate degree from California State University, Dominguez Hills and subsequently took a gap year to prepare and apply for law school, continuing his path toward a legal career.
Jorge Evangelista
Jorge Evangelista served as a Summer Intern with the Long Beach City Prosecutor’s Office in 2023. After the program, his academic and leadership experience included management and peer-to-peer instruction through Naval Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps, where he collaborated with and mentored fellow cadets. He also became a trusted peer resource for guidance and mentorship, crediting the internship with strengthening his confidence, leadership philosophy, and commitment to service.
Andrea Ramos
Andrea Ramos served as a Summer Intern with the Long Beach City Prosecutor’s Office in 2023. Following the internship, she gained professional experience as a Legal Assistant with the Amezcua-Moll Law Firm, where her work supported litigation, civil, business, and contract law matters. Andrea also pursued a STEM-designated degree in Criminal Justice at California State University, Dominguez Hills.
