Investing in young people today strengthens our community tomorrow.

The Long Beach City Prosecutor’s Office is committed not only to public safety but also to prevention and community well-being. Through mentorship, youth engagement, and community partnerships, we work to support young people before they enter the justice system-helping build confidence, develop skills, and discover pathways to success. We recognize that prosecutors alone cannot solve the challenges facing our youth. However, by connecting the youth and families to trusted mentorship organizations and career pathways, we can help create a strong network of guidance and opportunity to ensure that no young person falls through the cracks.

Why Mentorship Matters

✔ Positive role models and guidance
✔ Academic and career support
✔ Increased self-confidence and life skills
✔ Connection to community and opportunity
✔ Reduced risk of school dropout, gang involvement, and justice system contact

Our Role in Prevention & Opportunity

• Mentorship & Youth Engagement
Offering and supporting mentorship opportunities that promote leadership, responsibility, and personal growth.

• Community Partnerships
Collaborating with proven nonprofit and community organizations that specialize in mentoring, education, and youth development.

• Career Exposure & Internships
Providing pathways for young people to explore careers in public service, law, emergency services, and other professional fields.

• Diversion & Early Intervention
Promoting opportunities that guide youth toward success before challenges escalate into legal issues.

While enforcement is one part of public safety, prevention, guidance, and opportunity are equally essential.
